i soldati nella foto potrebbero anche essere del fleet protection group (ex comacchio group) costituito da personale misto (tutti commando trained) della royal navy e dei marines, o anche un operazione congiunta. ce da dire che la specializzazione (nel campo del boarding e antiterrorismo) del fleet protection group e stata incrementata proprio per abbassare il workload dell'sbs anche in vista delle frequenti operazioni all'estero...

e normale vedere questo tipo di armi in mano agli istruttori inglesi dei paesi caraibici. dalla meta degli anni ottanto molti di questi paesi hanno incominciato ad abbandonare l'armamento e l'equipaggiamento inglesi che fino ad allora li caraterizzava. gradualmente hanno ricevuto armi americane per una migliore integrazione nella lotta al narcotraffico a cui questi paesi partecipano sotto la coordinazione usa. anche l'addestramento e diventanto prevalentemente americano e fornito dall'us navy, dalla coast guard e dalla dea. cmq il mod continua a fornire a rotazione alcuni sottoufficiali e ufficiali per l'addestramento, anche se in maniera molto ridotta rispetto al passato.

barbados: glock 17, mp5, m16a1
bermuda: hp & m9, mini14 & m16
jamaica: hp & m9, m16a1 & a2
trinidad & tobago: hp & m9, m16a1

inoltre questi paesi stanno gradualmente sostituendo i vari fucili d'asslato con le versioni a2/a4 dell'm16 e con gli m4 donati dagli usa, e un numero sempre magigore di militari viene mandato direttamente negli usa per l'addestramento...
