special air service troops pictured in the north african desert during world war 2. the favourite jeep-mounted weapon of the sas was the vickers k machine gun, often mounted in pairs. the vickers k was designed as an air-to-air weapon fitted to british aircraft. firing a mixture of .303 armour-piercing, tracer and incendiary rounds, the vickers k was ideal for shooting up parked enemy planes, something the sas did to great effect during the war.

questa è molto particolare: pathfinder platoon in a'stan è stata scattata durante un assedio di 52 giorni in cui 25 uomini del plotone han dovuto difendersi dai continui attacchi dei taliban, rimanendo spalla a spalla con i poliziotti locali....che più che altro gli davano da mangiare e le munizioni.... ed erano usciti per fare una pattuglia di controllo di 4 giorni... la notizia è del 27 settembre 2006

l'ultimo potrei comprarlo! i 3 ex "c" dovrebbero avere anche militato tra i rhodesian sas..

i tre sono effettivamente ex sas sqdr. c "rhodesia" fino alla dichiarazione di indipendenza unilaterale della rhodesia , poi si formò il sas rhodesiano vero e proprio, ed il sito è quello degli ex veterani per i ritrovi.
infatti se avete notato nell'organigramma del sas uk non esiste più lo sqdr.c, in onore dei camerati rhodesiani non è stato più riformato.
ps. dopo l'avvento di mugabe molti di loro rientrarono nel sas uk o con i sas nz ed aussie
