Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU)

    Quote Originariamente inviata da wikipedia

The marine corps combat utility uniform or mccuu is the current battledress uniform of the united states marine corps.
it is also worn by us navy corpsmen and us navy chaplain corps members assigned to marine corps units.
field testing began in 2001, the uniform debuted in 2002, and the changeover was completed in october 2004.
it replaced the battle dress uniform, which the marine corps had shared with the us navy, us army and us air force.
however, both the mccuu, and its distinctive camouflage pattern marpat are exclusive to the marine corps, which holds the patents to their design, and are not widely available to the civilian market.
marpat is available in two color schemes, woodland and desert.
the uniforms are manufactured by propper international inc., american apparel, e.a. industries, american power source inc. and columbia sewing company.
the mccuu should not be confused with the similar looking frog uniform.

    MCCUU design

    Quote Originariamente inviata da wikipedia

the mccuu is intended for wear in the field or for working parties, but has become the typical working uniform for all deployed and most garrison marines and sailors.
the variety worn depends on the environment and season: deployed marines wear whichever color is more appropriate to the climate and terrain, marines in garrison wear the woodland mccuu with long sleeves in winter months, and the desert mccuu with sleeves rolled up in summer months (the transition occurs simultaneously with daylight saving time).

when rolled, the sleeves of the blouse are tightly folded up to the biceps, exposing the lighter inside layer, and forming a neat cuff to present a crisper appearance to the otherwise formless uniform.
in the past, when marines wore the battle dress uniform, this served to distinguish them from the army and air force, who rolled their sleeves so that the camouflage outside of the cuff folded down over the completed roll.
unlike the previous bdu, the mccuu was designed to be used with body armor, which previously restricted access to front pockets.
to further distinguish the uniform, upon close examination, the eagle, globe, and anchor can be found within the pattern.
its use as a combat uniform has led to some strict regulations for wear in garrison: the mccuu may not be worn off base, although it may be worn when commuting to and from duty in a private vehicle.
dismounting for incidental stops en route off of a military installation is no longer permissible excepting legitimate emergencies only.

    FROG Uniform - USMC -

    Flame Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG).
E' un sistema d'abbigliamento esclusivamente utilizzato dal United States Marine Corps (USMC) per ridurre il numero di ustioni e ferite provocate da un sempre crescente numero di IED (improvised explosive device).

    Specifiche:
The frog system consists of a long-sleeve shirt, t-shirt, combat shirt, combat trousers, gloves, and a balaclava. the shirts and trousers are done in marpat.

    • the balaclava has a hinged face guard that lets the wearer pull down the face guard and expose his or her face without taking off the helmet to remove the whole balaclava.
    • the long-sleeve shirt has a mock neck, moisture-wicking, and antimicrobial properties.
    • the t-shirt has most of the same properties as the long-sleeve shirt.
    • the combat shirt closely resembles the mccuu, but the portion covered by the marine's body armor (otv or mtv) are not as fire resistant because the vest is adequate protection. there are pockets on the upper sleeve.
    • the combat trousers also closely resemble the mccuu, but there is an additional calf-pocket to help distinguish it from non-frog trousers.
    • the gloves are designed to be highly durable.

Flight and cvc suits are also re-classified as FROG uniforms.
the unit commander can dictate how much protection is needed by ordering one of two different frog levels, which alter how much protective clothing is necessary.
the corps is considering the purchase of a new cold-weather flame-resistant shirt, specifically for the bitter cold winters of afghanistan, along with a new fire-resistant glove for increased insulation in cold-weather environments.

    Flight Suit CWU-27/P

    • The current flightsuit that is standard for most air forces and navies is made of Nomex, a fabric made from spun aramid that is lightweight and fire resistant. The flame retardant capabilities of this material make it ideal for protecting aviators in case of a fire. The suit is often green or desert tan in color, with multiple pockets for specific pieces of gear (such as a clear plastic pocket on the thigh intended to house a map of the aircraft's planned flight path) but color, style, and cut vary greatly from country to country.

    • The current model flight suit for the US military is the CWU 27/P and is available in sage green and desert tan. Commercial flight suits for civilian flying are also available, and are frequently used by helicopter crew (including non-pilots such as flight engineers and nurses), aerobatic pilots, and others who desire a practical "uniform".

    • The United States Marine Corps wore flight suits during most vehicle patrols and ground combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, because their standard camouflage utilities were not flame-resistant. Flight suits are now being phased out among ground personnel with the introduction of the Flame Resistant Organizational Gear or "FROG" suit, which resembles the standard camouflage utilities.
