Estrada, who died in a Djibouti training accident Feb. 14. Estrada, who served with Company I, Battalion Landing Team 3/1, was 21 and a native of Maricopa, Ariz. 'He died in the company of his brothers,' said company commander Capt. Matt McGirr. The landing team is the ground combat element for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, deployed as part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group to the U.S. Fifth Fleet area of responsibility.

    No le due cose non sono necessariamente collegate. Le operazioni heliborne a quanto mi risulta non richiedono attrezzatura particolare.

    Beh ma i mutandoni nol li usano in heli per i colpi che arrivano dal basso? O vengono usati in qualsiasi operazione terrestre?

    No, hanno gli inserti antischeggie/soft armor (altrimenti non sarebbero così "malleabili"), che sono ben diversi dalle piastre sapi. Servono per proteggere dalle mine e dalle ied antiuomo. Anche i vecchi groin protector erano così solo che non fornivano protezione "dal basso" ma solo frontale.
