A couple of weeks ago, VFC released a set of posters displaying their new M27 IAR GBBR. VFC has been the undisputed leader when it comes to airsoft HK416 and HK417 replicas, and they extend their line with the new gas blowback M27 IAR. This year, VFC released a fully trademarked HK416 and HK417, as well as the upcoming HK416C and M27 IAR. Through their partnership with Umarex, all of VFC’s Heckler & Koch airsoft rifles bear the authentic H&K logo and trademarks. This makes them in demand from both collectors, as well as players looking for the most realistic H&K airsoft rifles.
VFC has announced that they plan on releasing their HK416 and HK417 in both AEG and GBB models. The AEG models came first in both cases, with the GBB versions currently under development. With the VFC M27 IAR Airsoft Rifle, the GBB versions will be released first. While they haven’t officially announced it, we expect the AEG version of the M27 will follow.
The real IAR is a rifle that fits directly between the rifleman’s M4 or M16 and the M249 LMG. Designed as part of the Infantry Automatic Rifle program, the current USMC M27 IAR is a full-auto version of the HK416 designed to Marine Corps specifications. The rifle will feature an 11” handguard and a 16.5 inch barrel. Unlike some entries in the IAR competition, the final HK M27 does not fire from an open bolt or have a heavy barrel. It provides fully automatic fire capability on the squad level; this is a slight increase in firepower from the rifleman’s M16A4.
Umarex’s HK M247 IAR replica by VFC sports all of the features of the real IAR, including the bayonet lug and flip-up sights. The charging handle latch has also been updated to match the real one. There is no word yet on whether the charging handle is truly ambidextrous or not.
Overall, the H&K USMC M27 IAR by VFC is an extremely detailed replica, and if their current AEG offerings are any indicator, the M27 IAR Airsoft Gas Blowback Rifle will be a thing of beauty. There’s no word yet on release date for the M27 airsoft rifles in the US, but we should know more about pricing and dates shortly.
