Not so much a review, as I need to solder up a Deans connector, but I did promise pics, and a quick guide on the "1 point AK sling":
Yummy:
Complaints: Mags are a bitch to get in, especially with the stock folded. In fact, like on a normal AK, the mag release is supposed to click forward once the mag is fully seated. I've yet to be able to do that. Perhaps it will wear enough over time to lock right in.
The stock is a huge pain in the ass to unfold. Instructions say lift up to remove from the catch that holds it in the folded position, the first time was the worse, with lots of hitting and banging involved, but I finally managed to open it. It is slowly becoming easier but I fear I may damage it.
So, how to turn glorious progressive 2 point sling into super spetsnaz 1 point sling.
Everyone knows how to install a sling on an AK side folder, right? Disassemble the sling, thread it through from left to right (from muzzle to butt), fold it over (to the left), slip it through the leather, and thread it through the buckle. You'll want to make this sling long, so take up a lot of the slack. This is what you should have so far:
Above is the exact same thing you get when you put a sling on a normal AK side folder, like the AKS74.
Now, normally, the next, and last step would be to hook the sling on the front sling post and call it a day. Instead, bring the sling back, and hook it above the loop you made on the rear sling attachment point:
With the hook attached to the rear sling loop, you now have a giant fabric loop that isn't going anywhere. Since the most progressive way (and only way) to use such a weapon is with your right hand, stick your right arm and head through the loop. This will let the weapon dangle at your side, pistol grip pointing behind you. Then you can simply grab the grip (as if reaching for a sidearm) and lift the gun up to hose the state's enemies as appropriate.
I love the fact that the entire thing is metal. It is rock solid, and so long as you don't tug too hard on the magazine, it isn't going anywhere. Not to say it will fall out if you bump it, but because the mag release doesn't "lock" like on a normal AK. Again, it may wear, so who knows. I'd hate to have to file something brand new, so I'll mess with it this weekend.
