il 20th sfg credo sia stato dispiegato in afghanistan,o almeno qualche oda team.
su youtube mi pare ci siano dei video,taggati come "afghan video journal" o una cosa del genere,con dentro tutti video "amatoriali" fatti da un operatore per l'appunto dispiegato in astan e sia lui che i suoi commilitoni hanno materiale un pò fuori ordinanza,in dei video si vedevano ancora i vecchi spear ba e roba simile.
vien da chiedersi comunque come mai chi li usa di professione,non butta nel cesso/ebay quella roba e non passi a materiale aftermarket.

andiamo un po' off-topic, cmq sì sono stati operativi. tanto che un operatore del 20th che ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere tramite mail etc. si è fatto l'a'stan nel 2001-2002, erano là in veste di "advisors" o come dice meglio lui "mentors". in ogni caso quoto direttamente le sue parole

....hey alex.we worked as advisors,more like mentors-we did our mission and tried to show them how to do things more efficiantly. we did pull joint missions with the different tribes,but we also did some other missions on our own,the more "sensative"ones. we worked out of gardez,and kabul,qalat,,bagram afb,k2 area as well(different detachments/companies). my last time there was in the city of kajaki,in southrn ,afghanistan......
yeah,we performed all those types of missions,no one real type of thing we do.thats the great thing about sf. we can be advisors to the knadak militia or whoever,and while advising them,we will perform sse and da missions,both because it is called for,and to show the how it is done.yep,we were issued the gregory-the "assault" pack is great,the main pack sucks. waaaaay to many straps (we jokinly referred to it as the"strapmaster" 2000),waaaay to heavy,and just not well thought out. most of them are still sitting in storeage in the supply rooms.

hanno fatto anche missioni in iraq, anche recenti.
ora però sono a riposo, o almeno il suo oda lo è e la roba l'hanno ricevuta da "poco", credo l'anno scorso o giù di lì.
visto che siamo in area equipment ho lasciato l'ultima parte in cui commenta ladifferenza di praticità praticità fra zainone um-21 del sistema spear e il relativo patrol pack....
