Marines with the battalion's Headquarters and Service Company trained in convoy operations during exercise Steel Knight Oct. 6 to effectively train them to perform mounted patrols and handle weapons, even though they are not infantrymen. Exercise Steel Knight is an annual combined arms exercise hosted by 1st Tank Battalion here in the Combat Center's vast training grounds toward the end of each year, this year the exercise was held Oct. 4-13. The division-level exercise brought together the elements of a Marine Air Ground Task Force to effectively mass all of its assets and firepower and pursue an enemy force, said Staff Sgt. Leon L. Wojciechowski, the platoon sergeant for scout platoon, Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Tank Bn.

Petro, non solo i fucili sono usurati da sembrare cromati ma se ci fate caso più andiamo avanti nella guerra e più le unità di fanteria di prima linea sono logorate in generale: tasche aftermarket per sostituire quelle issued probabilmente rotte, telini o mimetiche strappate, tattici e tasche consumati/sporchi da far schifo e via dicendo. E sempre più spesso si vedono anche queste tamarrate.
Nei primi mesi o anni di guerra erano tutti più perfettini ed è probabile che sia la crisi economica che il morale sta incidendo anche su questo fattore e i superiori lasciano correre se vedono cose fuori posto. Se avete visto generation kill o comunque conoscete le tradizioni dei maries, sapete benissimo che il fucile e la divisa sono sacri e andare in guerra con una mimetica/telino strappato è sintomo di "rilassatezza" sotto il punto di vista del rigore (e quindi o morale basso o mancanza di fondi)

Beh quando magari è già il terzo o quarto schieramento in teatro di guerra penso sia anche normale vedere cose più o meno logorate, poi il velo di sabbia e polvere fanno il resto, magari facendoli sembrare più usurati di quanto non siano realmente.
