Gunnery Sgt. James Hussey, a platoon sergeant with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, crosses a creek during a patrol, Aug 20. Hussey and his Marines went on a patrol to close with and destroy the enemy after several attacks throughout the day. Marines headed towards the building where the fire originated. Just minutes after leaving the patrol base, a firefight began. Marines returned fire and bounded forward, eventually crossing a waist-deep creek. Once Marines successfully repelled the attack with superior fire power and maneuver, they continued providing security to the local area.
