Quello è un fucile abbastanza datato, se non ricordo male un prototipo di mitragliatrice leggera realizzata dalla colt, se noti infatti molti particolari sono simili ai banali m16.
Cmq per il discorso customizzazione è vero in parte, dipende dal comandante della compagnia. A quanto ricordo di aver letto ci sono compagnie che lasciano i propri marines effettuare modifiche agli m16 (ad esempio i calci collassabili per m4 che postai qualche pagina fa, oppure la modifica per rendere l'arma full-auto invece della raffica controllata), oppure la sostituzione diretta degli m16 con gli m4.
