This was the first cycle of certifications for the unit, but the battalion will continue training until the gunners of 2-18 Infantry are trained and ready to operate the CROWS system therefore reducing additional threats to their safety.

NURISTAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – U.S. Army fire a 60mm mortar during an engagement against insurgent forces in Nangaresh Nov. 22. and engaged the enemy with a combined 32 rounds of high-explosive and white phosphorous during a Nuristan Provincial Reconstruction Team mission to Alingar and Kachur in Laghman Province.
It was the first indirect fire engagement by the Yankee Division since May 1945 when the 1st Battalion, 182nd Infantry Regiment, used mortars and pack 75mm guns against the Japanese at Cebu in the Philippines.
